OPPORTUNITY OVERVIEW

CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler is seeking a Locum Tenens Critical Care Physician to support its high-volume ICU service beginning December 2026.

This is a well-supported Critical Care environment with dedicated physician and NPPA coverage on both day and night shifts.

Annual ICU Volume: Approximately 23,000 patients
Average Daily Census: 63 patients
Peak Winter Census: 70+ patients

COVERAGE MODEL

DAY COVERAGE | 7:00 AM-7:00 PM

• 4 Critical Care Physicians
• 2 NPPAs
• One NPPA shift includes:
  • 4 hours dedicated to Critical Care Medicine
  • 8 hours dedicated to ContinueCare

NIGHT COVERAGE | 7:00 PM-7:00 AM

• 1 Critical Care Physician
• 2 NPPAs

DAILY STAFFING

• 60 Physician Hours/Day
  • 48 day hours
  • 12 night hours
• 48 NPPA Hours/Day
  • 24 day hours
  • 24 night hours

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Board Certified or Board Eligible in:

• Critical Care Medicine
• Pulmonary Critical Care
• Surgical Critical Care
• Anesthesia Critical Care

Required:

• ACGME or AOA-accredited residency and fellowship
• Active Texas Medical License
• ACLS or ATLS
• Procedural competency
• Alternative boards not accepted

MD and DO physicians may be considered if they meet the required training, board eligibility/certification, licensing, and credentialing criteria.

FACILITY CREDENTIALING & ONBOARDING

• Temporary privileges available for physicians with a clean file
• Privileging timeframe: approximately 60-90 days
• Hospital orientation required
• Epic training required
• Epic test-out available for experienced users

Night Shift: 7:00 PM-7:00 AM
