Opportunity Overview

An excellent locum tenens opportunity is available for three ABEM-certified Emergency Medicine Physicians to provide ongoing coverage across three emergency departments in South Carolina’s Midlands Region. This opportunity offers flexible date availability, established physician and APP staffing models, and the ability to support multiple emergency departments based on scheduling needs.

Coverage is expected to begin in December 2026 and continue until permanent, full-time providers are hired.

Night shifts are the primary need. Providers must submit their specific availability with their initial presentation. All available dates will be considered.

Locations & Clinical Environment

Providers will be cross-credentialed to work at the following locations:

Columbia Downtown

• 31-bed emergency department

• Approximately 100 patients per day

• Current APP coverage: 9:00 AM-9:00 PM

• Additional APP coverage planned for 3:00 PM-1:00 AM

Physician Shifts:

• 6:00 AM-4:00 PM

• 12:00 PM-10:00 PM

• 3:00 PM-1:00 AM

• 8:00 PM-6:00 AM

Columbia Northeast

• 21-bed emergency department

• Approximately 125 patients per day

APP Shifts:

• 8:00 AM-8:00 PM

• 11:00 AM-11:00 PM

• 3:00 PM-3:00 AM

Physician Shifts:

• 6:00 AM-4:00 PM

• 2:00 PM-12:00 AM

• 8:00 PM-6:00 AM

Kershaw

• 15-bed emergency department

• Approximately 85 patients per day

APP Shifts:

• 9:00 AM-9:00 PM

• 3:00 PM-1:00 AM

Physician Shifts:

• 7:00 AM-5:00 PM

• 12:00 PM-10:00 PM

• 9:00 PM-7:00 AM

Schedule & Coverage Requirements

• Three Emergency Medicine Physicians needed

• Ongoing coverage beginning December 2026

• Night shifts are the primary priority

• Cross-credentialing required across all three locations

• Must be flexible to float between sites based on scheduling needs

• Providers will not be scheduled at two locations on the same day

• All available dates will be considered

Qualifications & Requirements

• ABEM certification required

• Active South Carolina medical license required

• Prior EPIC experience mandatory

• Ability to obtain credentials and privileges at all three locations

• Availability must be provided at the time of submission

Travel & Expense Information

• Lodging available at approved hotels, subject to applicable limits

• Transportation support available for car rental and gas or mileage

• Hospital modules and EPIC personalization completion requirements apply

• Airfare is not covered
